Quick answer. Shut the water, pull the handle, replace the cartridge or the worn washer. Drips are almost never 'just the spout'.
A drip wastes water and stains the basin. The part is usually a cartridge.
MarketPalace Guide Center writes this as a solution walkthrough — the order we would use if we were in the room with you. We name the next click, then what to do if that click fails. We do not sell the TV, the kettle, or the plane ticket.
If a menu name on your set or phone does not match, use the closest wording and email hello@marketpalace.shop. We correct live pages when the path has moved.
What you need
- Allen key or screwdriver
- Replacement cartridge for your brand if you can get it
In this guide
1. Shut the supply valves under the sink and open the tap to drain
If those valves will not turn, stop and get help.
2. Pop the cap, remove the handle screw, lift the handle
Take a photo of the order of parts.
3. Pull the cartridge or the old washer
Match it at the hardware shop if you did not know the brand.
4. Reassemble and turn water on slowly
Check under the sink as well as the spout.
If it still fails
- Forcing a seized under-sink valve can snap it. That becomes a flood.
When you are done, browse more in Home & Fixes or search the Guide Center for the next job on your list. A neighbour problem — a remote, a bill, a suitcase — has its own walkthrough.
Common questions
Still drips after a new cartridge?
The valve seat may be scored. That is a slightly bigger job.
